Women’s and Men’s Convenors sought
The Wellington Disc Sports Exec is looking for people to coordinate practises and team formation leading up to the Women's and Men's Nationals in early April next year. We are looking for two squad managers to look after men's and women's respectively. We envisage that the managers will lead the training sessions, but they could alternatively delegate coaching responsibilities.
The main aim is to develop high level ultimate in Wellington and put Wellington's best foot forward at Nationals, this year and moving forward.
Aspects of this would include:
- incorporating as wide a base of Wellington ultimate as possible
- run open trainings throughout the January to March period for anyone who wants to improve their skills and play at a high level
- form representative teams in each division (Men's and women's)
- ideally top teams will be formed in each division, but more importantly space on teams should be found for anyone who commits to the programme
- foster positive team environments
- win both divisions of WaM!
Wellington Disc Sports will:
- provide training space and resources (discs/cones etc)
- recognise teams, coaches and players as Wellington representatives in Ultimate
- investigate funding options
The Convenors will:
- ensure coached trainings take place on a weekly basis
- delegate responsibilities as required (coaching, logistics etc)
- have overall responsibility for the success of the programme
The ideal candidates will:
- relate well to players of varying levels of development
- have a proven record of organising campaigns
- ideally have solid coaching experience
We would like to start trainings soon so please have any expressions of interest back to Andy Neal (wgtn.president@gmail.com) by 31 December 2010.
